RC Big Rock is a new late season Midwest variety of upland switchgrass developed from Cave-in-Rock. It is the tallest upland switchgrass released to date likely to reach 7-1/2 to 8′ tall in productive zones of the Great Lakes Region. Genetically improved for ease of establishment, upright growth habit and increased height, making it an ideal choice for forage, biomass, soil conservation and wildlife habitat applications. RC Big Rock is a large seeded variety selected for reduced seed dormancy and increased seedling vigor, and like Cave-in-Rock, grows well on diverse soil types in the Midwest and Northeast. Late-season maturity is approximately 1 week later than Cave-in-Rock.
